When you're not the CEO and still want people to listen to you

It was one of those days where Gayle wished she were the CEO and could simply tell people, “Just go do it!” and not have to argue with anyone.

Gayle had been trying to get her organization to rapidly act on an opportunity for a new market with the potential for billions in revenue.  Sure it was risky, but they were in the middle of a business downturn that wasn’t pretty, and this very possibly could get them out of it.  If she could only get them to LISTEN!

They were not only NOT listening to Gayle, they didn’t even want to hear anymore.  “We’re done with that, Gayle” was the message she was getting.

For many years now, people have been coming to me because they want to learn how to “persuade”.  Over and over I hear, “I need to learn how to ‘persuade’ them.”

I don’t know if you realize this, but there are THOUSANDS of books and classes on “persuasion”.

Basically, “persuade” means get you to do something you don’t want to do, or get you to believe something you don’t believe.

This is why no one likes to be persuaded. And this is why persuasion is not a smart route if you want to achieve extraordinary outcomes.

So, if not “persuasion”, what is it that you really need to learn?

It’s how to get other people to want to do it because they really GET it and see the value of doing it. To do that, they have to completely change their minds, to reverse course, decide differently, and then go into action on it.

The good news is that this is not hard.

People only change when they start seeing things they didn’t see before.  Only then does It become clear to them. In other words, that’s when it becomes REAL.

And that’s when they experience REALIZATIONS.  And this is what you need a LOT of.

Instead of persuading, you want to CREATE REALIZATIONS. The MORE realizations you create, the faster they’ll go into action.  So, how do you make that happen?

First, and this is important, you have to cause them to open their minds.

Just as you can’t go through a closed door, you can’t get through to a mind that’s closed.  You simply can’t skip this step

After their minds are OPEN, the next thing you must do is make your ideas REAL to them.

Only then will they WANT to do it.

We’re not talking about “persuading”. Persuading leads to arguing. We’re talking about enlightening.

When you have the ability to enlighten others, they SEE what you’re talking about and it’s amazing how “persuasive” you become.

Gayle switched gears, stopped “persuading” and started enlightening. She opened their minds, ignited their interest and kept them engaged. As she spoke, a new vision formed in their minds.  They saw it.

The second that happened, they started telling HER, “We need to act fast on this!”  Gayle’s jaw dropped.

When all was said and done, Gayle realized she had aligned 110 individuals.  She was a little stunned when she told me about it, but happy.  What stunned her was how “effortless” it was once she switched gears to enlightening rather than trying to “persuade”.

If this is something you need to learn how to do, then get a group together and enroll in our Beyond Persuasion:  The new route for creating extraordinary outcomes.  By the end of that program, you’ll be free of the traps that have been frustrating you and holding you back.  You’ll know how to introduce new ideas and get them rapidly adopted, how to influence groups, and how to create extraordinary outcomes fast.

You will have a “superpower” few people even know exists.
